SunPower’s stock extended its losing streak on Friday, closing at $1.60 after declining 8.57% during the trading session. The solar energy company has now recorded five consecutive days of losses, resulting in a cumulative decline of 9.6% over a ten-day period.
The latest downturn was triggered by SunPower’s disclosure of substantial equity awards to key personnel from recently acquired Sunder Energy. Three executives received 2.7 million restricted stock units that will vest over a six-year period. These compensation packages are designed to secure leadership continuity following the acquisition, which significantly expands SunPower’s distribution network to 45 U.S. states and doubles its sales force.
