Energy Vault, a specialist in energy storage solutions, has achieved a significant strategic milestone by entering the European market. Its commercial debut is marked by two initial projects in Switzerland, where the company has not only secured contracts but, more notably, demonstrated impressive operational execution speed.

A key development for investors is the pace at which Energy Vault has moved from contract to operation. The company has completed the installation of a 2 MW / 4 MWh battery storage system, known as B-VAULT, at the headquarters of the Schindler Group in Ebikon. Crucially, this system is already operational and received qualification from the national transmission system operator, Swissgrid, in under four weeks. This rapid validation underscores the technology's compatibility with Europe's highly regulated electricity grid.

Dual Projects Highlight Technology Versatility

Alongside the Ebikon installation, a second contract has been signed in Switzerland with Energie Wettingen AG for a larger 8 MW / 16 MWh system. This project will utilize Energy Vault's "FlexGrid" architecture, a design specifically engineered for space-constrained urban environments. The dual projects showcase the adaptability of the company's hardware to different scales and settings.

Integration into Virtual Power Networks

These storage systems are not standalone assets. They are being integrated directly into the existing Swiss "CKW Flexpool" network, a virtual power plant platform that aggregates over 1,700 decentralized energy assets. This integration enables the batteries to actively participate in the balancing energy market, providing critical grid services such as frequency regulation. The move effectively demonstrates the commercial viability of Energy Vault's technology within real-time energy trading ecosystems.

Foundation for Broader European Expansion

The successful commissioning in Switzerland represents a pivotal shift from development to commercial execution in a new region. The ability to secure grid approval in less than a month is being interpreted by the market as an indicator of high technological maturity and operational efficiency. This operational success is now viewed as a potential catalyst for further expansion across Europe. Upcoming milestones to watch include the full commissioning of the Wettingen project and the potential announcement of additional contracts from the region.
