Apex Critical Metals, the Canadian-listed explorer, has ramped up its Phase-I drilling campaign at the Rift Rare Earth Project in southeast Nebraska. The company has now deployed two rigs in parallel on the site, stepping up activity to accelerate delineation of the rare-earth mineralization within the Elk Creek Carbonatite Complex. Heavy equipment is on site as the program aims to rapidly define the extent and continuity of the mineralization, with early core analyses anticipated in the coming weeks.

Apex has significantly intensified the drill campaign to push the project forward. On the Rift Rare Earth Project, the two rigs are operating side by side to speed up the assessment of the deposit.

  • Drilling so far includes RIFT26-002, which intersected a carbonatite segment about 330 meters in length starting at 178 meters depth. This observation corroborates the geological models near historical drill results.
  • Drill hole RIFT26-001A has reached a depth of 110 meters, with the target zone estimated around 600 meters depth.
  • Work has also begun on RIFT26-003, and preparations are underway for additional step-out drilling.

It is important to note that the mere presence of carbonatite does not guarantee an economically viable mineral resource. Laboratory analyses will determine the grade and quality of the discoveries. Apex plans to submit the first drill cores for testing in the coming weeks.

Strategic significance

The Rift project sits within a geologically promising setting. The Elk Creek Carbonatite Complex is regarded as one of North America?s more advanced niobium and rare-earth deposits. The current campaign targets a core area with roughly 850 meters of strike length. The objective combines historical data, surface geochemistry, and modern 3D modeling to guide exploration.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Apex Critical Metals?

For investors, attention now turns to the forthcoming assay results. Those analyses will reveal whether the geological hypotheses hold and what qualitative potential may lie in Nebraska?s subsurface.
